Welcome to the U, Riley Williams!
July 1, 2022

Miami received very good news on Friday. TE prospect
Riley Williams (Portland, OR - Central Catholic) made it official when he gave the Canes his verbal commitment.

Riley has been rumored to be a strong lean to Miami for almost a month. With 23 scholarship offers, Riley chose Miami over such schools as Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon, among others.

Brandon Huffman, 247Sports National Recruiting Editor, gave this assessment of Riley.

Williams has good speed, is strong at the line, does a great job sealing the edge in his blocks and runs really well. With a good running game and a shorter passing game, he's not targeted as often as other tight ends, but when he is sent out, he is constantly getting open and shows off his quickness and range. Can also play off the edge as a defensive end/rush backer. At times, would be used in delayed blitzes, showing off his quickness and ability to close.

At 6’-6”/230, Riley is rated 96, ranked the #2 TE and #66 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He is Miami’s 11th verbal commitment to their 2023 class, now ranked #14 in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Welcome to the U, Riley!  Welcome to the family!

GO Canes!
