Miami landed the commitment of former Purdue DT Branson Deen on Monday.
At 6’-2”/285, Branson is a veteran Power 5 DT. In three years with the Boilermakers, he played in 31 games, generating 72 tackles,15.5 TFL ,6.5 sacks. In 2021, Deen earned All-Big Ten honorable mention after starting 11 games and finishing with 26 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 4 sacks and 4 QB hurries.
Judging from his PFF grades, Miami has picked up a productive Power 5 interior defensive lineman. In 2022, Branson earned a solid PFF 74.2 overall defensive grade that included a 66.1 run defense and a 78.1 pass rush grades. He was credited with 25 QB hurries.
Miami now has picked up two defensive tackle commitments from the transfer portal, joining Thomas Gore. The Canes now have six transfer commitments in their 2023 transfer class.
Branson has one year of eligibility remaining.
