Sweep! Canes rout Dartmouth, 20-2
February 26, 2023
The #22 Miami completed a three-game series sweep of Dartmouth with a 20-2 rout on Sunday. It was the Canes’ seventh straight victory.
The Canes (7-1) again “brought the lumber,” generating three home runs and 21 hits. Leading Miami’s attack was SS Dominic Pitelli with three hits, including a home run, and three runs batted in. Joining Pitelli on the offensive were Dorian Gonzalez Jr. and Jason Torres, each contributing a homer and three RBI.
Miami got a quality start from Alejandro Rosario (1-0). Alejandro allowed only two runs on three hits, while striking out seven and walking one in six innings of quality work.
Dartmouth actually led 2-0 in the third inning when Miami erupted for four runs, keyed by a two-run single by Yohandy Morales. The Canes never looked back as head coach Gino DeMare cooled off in the clubhouse after being ejected when Zach Levenson struck out on a “clock violation.”
Miami goes on the road for the first time this season on Tuesday when they play at Florida Atlantic. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. ET. Coverage by C-USA.tv.
