Six Canes named semifinalists for national awards


12/9/20: This week six Miami Hurricanes were named semifinalist for national awards. Quarterback D'Eriq King was named to the mid-season watch lists for Davey O’Brien, Maxwell and the Johnny Unitas Award. Miami DE Jaelan Philips was named a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the nation’s top defensive player. Safety Bubba Bolden was named on the Jim Thorpe Award watch list given to the country’s top defensive back. Kicker Jose Borregales earned a spot on the Lou Groza Award watch list, given to the nation’s top placekicker. Punter Lou Hedley was named a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation’s top punter. TE Brevin Jordan was named a finalist for the John Mackey Award, given to the nation’s top tight end. It was the second consecutive season Jordan made the finalist list.
