Wong leads Cane trio on All-ACC Team

Miami basketball is the ’22-’23 Co-Champion of the Atlantic Coast Conference. It’s reflected on the All-ACC team announced on Monday.

Isaiah Wong earned first team honors and was also named the ACC Player of the Year.  Wong leads the #14 Hurricanes in scoring at 15.9 points per game, also averaging 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 44.2 percent and 38.1 percent from 3-point range.

Jordan Miller, was named to the second team and PF Norchad Omier earned All-ACC third team honors. A fifth-year senior guard, Miller is just the eighth Hurricane to receive first- or second-team All-ACC status, joining Wong, McClinton, Larkin, McGusty, Sheldon McClellan (2015-16), Kenny Kadji (2012-13) and Guillermo Diaz (2005-06 and 2004-05).

A third-year sophomore forward,
Norchad Omier is the third player to claim first-, second- or third-team All-ACC honors in his first season on the floor as a Hurricane, alongside McClinton (2006-07) and Kadji (2011-12). Omier, who leads Miami with 13 double-doubles this year, is averaging 14.1 points per game to go along with team highs in rebounds (10.0) and blocks (1.3) per contest. He is also pacing the Hurricanes with a 59.0 percent clip from the field, while adding 1.3 assists per game, 1.0 steal per game and a 71.2 free-throw percentage to his ledger.

Miami (24-6, 15-5 ACC) opens ACC Tournament play in the quarterfinals on Thursday (12:00 p.m., ESPN/ESPN2) as the top seed with a matchup against the winner between 8-seed Wake Forest and 9-seed Syracuse.
