January 14, 2023
Miami fell behind early but rallied from a 10-point deficit to take it to overtime. Unfortunately, the Canes couldn’t pull it out in the end, losing 83-81 to NC State (14-4, 4-3), on Saturday in Raleigh.
For Miami (14-3, 5-2 ACC) turnovers were costly. The Canes had 17 turnovers for the game.
“We just had too many turnovers for the game,: stated Miami head coach Jim Larranaga. “We only have five assists with 17 turnovers. I would prefer the opposite.”
Miami shot 56.9 percent (29 of 51) from the floor. Isaiah Wong led the Canes with 25 points, despite sitting our much of the first half in foul trouble. He shot 7 of 9 from the floor, 2 of 3 from beyond the arc and made 9 of 10 free-throw attempts. He also contributed six rebounds and one assist.
Norchad Omier turned in another double-double, scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks for the Canes. Jordan Miller scored 13 points and Bensley Joseph contributed 11 points.
