Miami beats Bethune-Cookman, 9-0

The Canes returned home on Tuesday to host Bethune-Cookman in baseball. Miami (29-8 - 14-4 ACC) flexed their muscle and beat the Wildcats, 9-0 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
Miami right-hander Jake Garland turned in a dominant start, going seven shutout innings, giving up just six hits and one walk, while striking out seven BCU (16-20, 10-5 SWAC) batters to win his sixth game of the season. Right-handers Alex McFarlane and Anthony Arguelles finished off the Wildcars over the final two innings, with McFarlane striking out the side in the eighth inning.
The Canes’ hitting attack got off to a fast start on Tuesday, with third baseman Yohandy Morales driving in the first run in opening frame n a sacrifice fly. Miami broke open the game in the six and seventh inning, scoring seven runs to extend their lead to 9-0. Carlos Perez, CJ Kayfus and Edgardo Villegas each drove in a run in the sixth inning.
In the seventh inning with Miami leading 5-0, Gaby Gutierrez, Henry Wallen and Jacob Burke each drove in a run to seal the game. Kayfus finished off the scoring with a two-run double.
The Canes will now host the Pittsburgh Panthers for a three-game series starting Friday at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. First pitch will be at 7:00 p.m. ACCNX will provide coverage.
